We are so pleased to introduce you to our resident Real Housewives expert and all-around breath of fresh air, Alex. Carrying on with our beloved series, The Staff Room, we meet our Customer Relations Manager, an integral member of the team at Glisten HQ.

Erin: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Alex: Scatty, funny and impatient.

How did you start working for Glisten Cosmetics?

Natalie is one of my closest friends. I’ve known her since I was about 18, so when I was let go from my recruitment job at five months pregnant, Natalie took pity on me! It’s something I could do from home and, at the time, work around my really bad morning sickness.

Run us through a typical day at Glisten HQ for you?

I arrive, make my coffee, then I make my greens and hormone powder drink- down that! It’s absolutely gross and I make horrible grunting noises. Then I will get on with checking tickets, dealing with customer queries, sorting the return parcels and then I check the affiliate page to see which new affiliates we have that are requesting to join our wonderful team.

How do you take your coffee?

Preferably, I would like an iced coffee, however we don’t have ice in the office, so at home it'll be an Americano with Oat Milk. If I go to a coffee shop, it'll be an iced Americano with coconut milk.

 

What is your favourite thing about working for Glisten Cosmetics?

Honestly, I would have to say the people. People are everything for me when it comes to a job, as you spend a lot of time at work don’t you? You need to have a good bunch of people around you, so that is my number one. And then second, I love that I get to see the products before they come out, and sometimes test them ha!

What do you get up-to when you’re not at the office?

I have a daughter who is 22 months, so I spend time entertaining her which I'm quite good at. I do wonder sometimes if I should be a child’s entertainer and start my own YouTube channel. Also, I love to watch Real Housewives. Play with my child or watch Housewives.

Do you have any secret talents we should know about?

Hmm, I wouldn’t say it’s a talent, well I don’t know. I’m very, very good at predicting what people are gonna say in movies, the storylines and where it’s gonna go. Even really hard films, I’ve just got a knack for it. AH, I’VE GOT ANOTHER TALENT! I am so good at telling people about a film that I’ve never seen? Someone will go like “Oh have you seen so and so?”, and I’ll be like “Oh my God, it’s this film about this!” and they’ll be like “Yeah, have you seen it?” and I’ll be like, “No”.

So, you’re a psychic?

Maybe. Psychic about films! That’s my talent.

Okay, what is your favourite Glisten product?

I have a look that I do when I use makeup that I’ve done forever, and I always used to use a certain black liner. Then when I started using Cola, I honestly thought it’s the best black liner ever. I just really love all the Wet Liners and I also really like the Chroma Flakes, they’re really easy to use.

And what’s a Glisten product you think that people are sleeping on?

I think if you’re into doing eyeliner and makeup, the Spectra Paints have so much potential. A product that is very versatile, you can mix all your own blends, that you can use on your eyes, your cheeks and your lips. Especially with the cost of living crisis, you can’t go wrong with that can you?

We ask this to all of our important clientele; what is your go-to pizza topping of choice?

I’m not a fan of pizza. If I was going out or ordering in, I wouldn’t really pay for a pizza, it would be my last option. But, if I had to, it would be pepperoni. But not like, s**t one slice of pepperoni. More pepperoni than cheese! I’m a meat girl. Sorry, vegans.
