Whitney Nyamayaro x Influencer of the Month 

It’s a new month and that means we’re back with another ten ‘hard hitting’ questions for this August’s delightful Influencer of the Month! This time we get to celebrate Whitney Nyamayaro! Specialising in editorial and creative makeup, this 24 year old from Birmingham, UK, has been working hard as a Content Creator for over two years, alongside working full time. 

@whitscanvas has worked with big names such as ColourPop and BeautyBay and now makes time in her busy schedule to talk tips, inspiration and life balance with Glisten Up!… 

What do you want the world to know about Whitney?

Whitney is a person who loves to play Animal Crossing on her Nintendo Switch and sometimes it helps inspire my designs for make up.

Nice. What we really want to know is, what is your star sign?

Taurus ☼, Pisces ☽, Aries rising.

You were involved in a couple of amazing campaigns for Beauty Bay, what was that experience like?

Beauty Bay was very lovely to work with! Very fun experience overall and I would love to work with them again in the future!

You have such a vibrant aesthetic, what inspires your style as an artist?

My style for my make-up jumps out at me! It truly depends on how I'm feeling! If I see some flowers I would honestly be like, “That would be amazing as a makeup look!” Even during the spring-time I would be like “Oh wow I should do mushrooms and add some ladybugs!” I love neon colours and mattes!

Ahem, we’ve noticed you love to use a bit of pink in your looks, is pink your favourite colour?

I absolutely love pink in makeup looks and in general! It is honestly my go-to colour for everything haha! If something is pink I'll probs just buy it for the colour haha!

We know that working as a Content Creator can be quite demanding, what keeps you motivated?

I have to find a balance a lot of the time! I also try not to burn myself out. I know that there's going to be times when I do make up and I have absolutely no plans and it doesn't work out! Be patient with yourself and you'll find a way to keep your creativity alive.

Do you have any tips for any budding Content Creators out there?

Anyone can be a content creator - find the style that best suits you and it can honestly take you so far! I know that for me as a dark-skin make up artist some trends I would look at and be like “oh wow - that would never suit my skin tone”, but even if someone thinks it looks weird, there's always going to be someone cheering for you!

Do you have an OG Glisten Product that you just can't live without?

I cannot go a makeup look without the Shape Shifter Palette - who needs highlight when you have that goldmine of a palette!

A non-Glisten product?

I honestly love the Rare Beauty blush. It is the BEST blush I have ever used and it truly goes a long way.

And finally, what is your go-to pizza topping?

I'm lactose intolerant, but meat feast! Everytime!
